  Balloons Over - Belper (Ambergate)

Looking to see some of the best scenery Derbyshire has to offer from the basket of huge hot air balloon? Well our Ambergate launch site, set in the Lower Derwent Valley within the beautiful Peak District, is ideal for you.

Soaring into the sky you’ll see a village which was shaped by the Industrial Revolution and the Age of the Railway. In fact, it got the name from the Amber Gate toll built on the turnpike road between Cromford and Belper in 1820. And the two gateposts can still be seen, now found on the A6 by the White House Inn.

If you’re lucky, the wind will guide you north past Matlock Bath, a popular tourist spot known for its warm springs and beautiful Switzerland-style scenery. There you may sail over the High Tor cliff face or the tree topped Heights of Abraham – why not wave to the people travelling to the summit in a cable car.

Maybe you’ll take a more easterly direction and the rugged landscapes of the Derbyshire Dales will beckon as will landmark beauty spots such as Lathkill and Dovedale, plus the Chatsworth estate, Haddon Hall and Hardwick Hall.

If instead you travel west, then Staffordshire will appear before you, including places such as Leek and on a clear day Alton Towers Theme Park could even be seen in the distance.

Don’t worry, a flight with us is smoother and more serene than any rollercoaster ride and far more memorable!
