Balloons Over - Kingsbridge |
|
| |
Devon is, of course, the land of cream-teas and dare we say, the widest choice of Virgin Hot Air Balloon launch sites in any county, blessed with no less than eight carefully selected locations from which to explore the beauty of this glorious part of the country. Our southernmost Devonian launch site is based at the ever-popular town of Kingsbridge found at the head of the Kingsbrige estuary, only a few miles from the county's delightful coastal towns and beeches. With a wind in the southern compass bearing a flight from Kingsbride will thrill all aboard, as slowly you make in land to find the stunning beauty for which Devon is rightly famous. Being virtually on the southern coast however, a wind from the north will only take you out to sea! The town's roots can be traced back to a 13th century charter that permitted a market to take place on the town quay, once busy with commercial shipping but nowadays reserved for pleasure craft. Fore Street leads up through the centre of the town to the oldest section which houses a medieval shambles, St Edmund's Church dating back to the 15th century and the town hall with its distinctive three faced clock. As with all of our Devon launch sites, Kingsbridge boasts more than its fair share of excellent pubs, restaurants and cafes in which to while away the time pre or post flight.
