Hot Air Ballooning Over - Basingstoke |
|
| |
From the timeless beauty of the New Forest to the majesty of the waters around Portsmouth, Southampton and the Isle of Wight - Hampshire is full of interesting surprises and deserving of its three Virgin Hot Air Balloon launch sites. Our launch site in Basingstoke, found within the grounds of Queen Mary's College makes a first class central location from which to fly in all directions. Whilst close to many interesting historical sites including Basing House, Pamber Forest, Calleva Atrebatum and the Vyne it is also ideal for a flight over Basingstoke itself, winds permitting. Basing House is a 16th century country home, set in a 12-acre park of lawns, lakes, woodland walks and wild garden. Once the country's largest private house, it was home to the Marquess of Winchester. A short drive from the launch site is Pamber Forest a 478-acre ancient woodland. Comprising of many ponds and streams, the forest is alive with wildlife. A stunningly beautiful area over which to fly, if fortunate is the Test Valley, a mere hour or so drive from London. An unspoilt and varied landscape where dramatic escarpments contrast with hidden leafy lanes and picturesque conservation villages, it is genuine, traditional English countryside. Boasting a fascinating array of landmark beauty spots including stately homes, castles, listed monuments and famous towns and cities, Hampshire is probably at its finest when viewed from the air.
