Balloons Over - Stanford Hall |
|
| |
Situated within the grounds of the beautiful William and Mary house, Stanford Hall, our Virgin Hot Air Balloon launch site is just over the border in Leicestershire near the picturesque village of Stanford-on-Avon. Set within glorious open countryside, the house often plays host to car enthusiasts, who regularly display their rare and vintage marques within its stunning grounds. Following the River Avon, winds permitting, one will soon be flying over some tremendous landmarks such as Warwick Castle for example or Shakespeare's famous Stratford Upon Avon. Anne Hathaway's (Shakespeare's wife) cottage in Shottery might also fall beneath your flight path and further feed your imagination as you picture the scene beneath the basket a few centuries past. With the Cotswolds to the South and an inexhaustible stream of quaint villages to explore, this area really is deserving of an extended stay with a balloon flight as one aspect of your visit. Perhaps a 'Royal Shakespeare Company' performance at the Swan Theatre in Stratford will entice you, or a meal or two in one of dozens of fine restaurants and inns that pop up everywhere, will add a few inches to the waistline. However long your stay, you will certainly run short of time in which to fit all that the county can offer you, either on the ground or from the air! This really is a splendid and beautiful region, worthy of a weekend's stay.
