As we (just about) turn the corner in to summer, Virgin Balloon Flights shares the skies over our fair isle with a number of different air shows – and East Anglia in particular has a great number to choose from.
The Imperial War Museum at Duxford has no less than 7 different air shows ranging from Battle of Britain to Large Model aircrafts. Southend-on-Sea will also be hosting its 25th free air show over two days on 30 and 31 May. The display takes place along 2 miles of seafront and over 40 aircraft will be on display. The Clacton air show, whilst not as large as Southend, is held on the Thursday and Friday prior to the August bank holiday and the pier allows superb views of the displays.

The Red Lancashire Rose
So what springs to mind when you think of Lancashire? Whether it’s hotpots and cheese, The Beatles, The Rovers Return, unspoilt rolling countryside or cheeky seaside resorts, the Red Rose of Lancaster and it’s home county have it all!
Of course the very best way to get a glimpse of this cultured county is from up above, in the open air, with your binoculars and camera in tow. You can head skywards from Burton in Lonsdale or Stonyhurst College for panoramic views of the Forest of Bowland’s rugged Lancashire scenery and heath covered moorland. 2010 will be the year of the 19th Commonwealth Games and is set to be held in the colourful city of Delhi, India, from 3rd -14th October.
When given the opportunity to support England’s Commonwealth team at the Delhi Games, Virgin Balloon Flights jumped at the chance to aid fundraising for training and equipment to give our athletes the best chance possible.
With this being the last multi sport event in the run up to the Olympics, to be held right here in 2012, our athletes need confidence and ability to be at their peak to successfully compete for our country. That’s where the fundraising comes in …
Virgin Balloon Flights have donated flights to the ‘Indian Summer Gala Dinner’ for auction and raffle which is being hosted by former British triple jumper Jonathan Edwards and Olympic swimmer Karen Pickering. Of course the Commonwealth Games president Dame Kelly Holmes will be at the event drumming up support and inspiration for the team.
Amongst auction lots akin to VIP tickets to the F1 Grand Prix paddock, centre court tickets at Wimbledon, signed shorts from David Haye or a helmet signed by Jenson Button, our Champagne balloon rides will be up for grabs too!
The event will be held at The Grosvenor Hotel in London on 14th June and you can book your star studded table by visiting the We Are England Website.
“We are the athletes of the Commonwealth Games in 2010. We are the elite from 17 sports. We are the medals waiting to be won. We are the supporters willing us on. We are the stars of the past. We are the potential for the future. We are the talent of today. We are the dreams of a whole nation. We are one team … We Are England!”

“It takes a lot of imagination to be a good photographer … in photography everything is so ordinary; it takes a lot of looking before you learn to see the extraordinary.” David Bailey.
Virgin Balloon Flights are giving you the chance to exercise your imagination and discover the extraordinary … share your memories from the sky with us by uploading your photographs and videos and be in with a chance to WIN a Virgin Experience Days gift card to the value of £100!
