 VBFSupporting the BHF  VBF

Once again it’s the British Heart Foundation (BHF) ‘Wear it Red Day’ and Virgin Balloon Flights have got involved by wearing red and eating cupcakes topped with sparkly red hearts.

With red being our favourite colour (obviously) we look very Virgin-esque head to toe in red, with everyone making a minimum donation of £2 to don their best red clobber. We hope the BHF will benefit from our support and to help us raise as much money as possible we’ve been eating cupcakes beautifully designed and baked by Simply Love Cupcakes.

With over £45 in the pot already our staff have done a super job of supporting this deserving charity and making a small difference to help BHF’s mission of “Working together to beat Heart disease”.

House of Fraser helps Virgin Balloon Flights Raise the Running Total!

By , February 15, 2011 11:59 am

Sophie and Lynsay outside House of Fraser On Saturday Virgin Balloon Flights set up shop in Telford Town Centre’s House of Fraser store to sell tickets for our Hope House Children’s Hospice raffle.

Equipped with a balloon basket and Hope House banners the team managed to attract lots of generous shoppers. With the opportunity of bagging a Champagne balloon ride for two, a break at Coombe Abbey courtesy of Virgin Experience Days, first class train tickets from Virgin Trains, an iPod shuffle donated by Virgin MoneVirgin balloon Flightsy and many many more superb prizes kindly donated by the Virgin Group, the lovely House of  Fraser customers dug deep and raised a total sum of £463!

This excellent result takes the fundraising total to just over £3,700 for our nominated charity Hope House Children’s Hospice which we are supporting through the Virgin Unite ‘Changing the Course’ campaign by taking part in the Virgin London Marathon. To donate please visit our Virgin Money Giving page.

Our marathon runner Sue said: “The House of Fraser customers were great and very generous with their money. We had a fab day selling the raffle tickets and Virgin Banners hope to be in the town centre again before the marathon on April 17th. Best of luck to all the people who purchased a raffle ticket, the draw will take place on the 8th April at Hope House near Oswestry!”

To purchase or sell raffle tickets on our behalf please contact Virgin Balloon Flights on 01952 212750.

The full list of prizes and terms and conditions to accompany the raffle is available on this blog.

On Track with Training for the Virgin London Marathon

By , February 10, 2011 4:31 pm

Sue's in the Pink! Run Sue Run! still not out of puff!

After being lucky enough to win a place at a training workshop with elite runners Liz and Martin Yelling, organised by Virgin Money Giving, our marathon runner Sue is full to the brim with new knowledge and ready to rank up the training another notch to make sure she crosses the finish line with Hope House Children’s Hospice in mind.

Liz, a two time Olympic Marathon runner and Commonwealth Games medallist, was the first British finisher at the Athens Olympic Marathon and also lead the Beijing Olympic Marathon. So there is no one better to get Sue in the right frame of mind to rock and roll on marathon day.

Sue said about the training at Eton College Rowing Centre at Dorney Lake in Windsor “It was good to find out what my comfortable running pace is, at the moment I’m running a 10 minute mile, which means I could hopefully complete the marathon in 4 hours and 30 minutes. I also learned some useful nutrition tips and what I should be eating whilst training for the marathon to ensure that my body is correctly fuelled. I had a great day!”

Our current total for fundraising stands at £3,314.80, and we’re hoping to get much more! To do your bit why not buy a raffle ticket to be in with a chance of winning one of many fantastic prizes which can be seen on our Charity Raffle blog page?
