From the timeless beauty of the New Forest to the majesty of the waters around Portsmouth, Southampton and the Isle of Wight - Hampshire is full of interesting surprises and deserving of its two Virgin Hot Air Balloon launch sites.
From our southernmost Hampshire launch site situated in Ansty Park and nearby to the delightful village of Chawton, there is much to view from the lip of the basket whatever the wind direction.
Chawton is best known as being the one-time home to the famous novelist, Jane Austen who lived and wrote in Chawton House. Wild deer still roam the once royal hunting ground that is the stunning New Forest lying to the South West, whilst the splendour of the county town, Winchester is to be found to the North. It was at Winchester that the Domesday Book was written and incidentally whilst on literary matters it was here too that the poet, John Keats penned his 'Ode To Autumn' inspired, it is said, by a stroll around this fine city.
Today Winchester is a thriving market town best-known and loved for its spectacular medieval cathedral that never fails to impress its many visitors, either from the ground or if fortunate enough, from the air. Boasting a fascinating array of landmark beauty spots including stately homes, castles, listed monuments and famous towns and cities, Hampshire is probably at its finest when viewed from above the horizon. directionsHillside Nurseries Beech Alton Hampshire GU34 4AB
