A former wartime airfield, Gransden Lodge Airfield, just 10 miles west from the inspirational city of Cambridge with its beautiful architecture and historic buildings, is a super spot from which to launch into the majestic world of hot air ballooning.
Looking east towards Cambridge itself, the skyline is dominated by Kings College Chapel and Cambridge University Library along with the chimney of the Addenbrooke’s Hospital in the far south of the city and St John’s College Chapel.
If the wind carries you in a westerly direction look out for St Neots, the largest town in Cambridgeshire, on the valley of the River Great Ouse where you might be able to spot pleasure boats enjoying the mature river, the pretty market square or the nature reserve at Paxton Pits which is home to 19 species of dragonfly, many wild birds and even otters to name a few.

The only entrance to the airfield is on the south side off the B1046 by Gransden Lodge. Once on the small track, take a right turn at the first T-junction and follow the track all the way around upto the club house.
