hot air balloon rides over cheltenham college

Elegant garden squares surrounded by charming architecture make the spa town of Cheltenham a delightful starting point for a hot air balloon ride.

Depending on which way the wind is blowing you may spot a number of notable sights passing underneath your balloon basket.

Launching from Charlton Park to the south of the town centre means you may get to spot the impressive Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ) building, the British intelligence agency of the UK government. Commonly nicknamed ‘the doughnut’ we think you might be able to spot this building with some ease.

If the wind carries you in a westerly direction look out for the Cotswold Hills in the lush Severn Valley. You’ll spot the Severn Estuary which is the estuary of the longest river in Great Britain.

Voted one of the best Top 5 shopping streets in Britain in 2011 the Promenade in Cheltenham may also provide a relaxing destination for some post balloon ride strolling along the beautiful tree lined avenue.

From the M5 follow the A40 City Centre. When you pass Cheltenham General Hospital take a right at the end of the road.

We launch from Reeves Playing Fields on the left. Park your vehicle on Charlton Park Drive just after the mini-roundabout and wait for the balloon team to arrive.
