One of the Virgin Hot Air Balloon launch sites in Lincolnshire is located at Stoke Rochford Hall, a Victorian country mansion set in 28 acres of formal gardens and surrounded by 1000 acres of rolling parkland.
Rochford Hall was designed and built by the famous Scottish architect William Burn. It was built in the early 1840's for Sir Christopher Turnor a local landowner.

The castle boasts the Queens Royal Lancers Museum featuring field marshals including Allenby and Earl Haig.
Manthorpe, Belton and Stoke Rochford are three of the county's showpiece villages, all being within 15 minutes drive of Rochfort Hall.
Lincolnshire is full of fascinating things from architecture, to villages, to people, to stories about royalty. For example Edward 1 held the first ever parliament in Lincoln Cathedral. In 1215 an army assembled in Stamford to march on King John forcing him to sign the Magna Carta. Newport Arch is the only Roman arch in the country still used by traffic. NG33 5EL From the north, Stoke Rochford is very conveniently situated 6 miles south of Grantham, less than a quarter of a mile from the A1 and only 15 minutes from Grantham railway station.
Follow A1 north for 2.5 miles from the roundabout at Colsterworth (A151). Turn left to Stoke Rochford village. Enter park 200 meters after A1 turn off, and follow main drive to Obelisk Car Park. This is next to the football fields, which is the launch site to meet for the balloon.
Or 2 miles south of Great Ponton from Grantham, turn right to Stoke Rochford Village, enter the park after 200 metres and follow main drive to Obelisk Car Park. Park and meet crew on football field.
