Horton in Ribblesdale is a small village sat beside the Settle to Carlisle Railway at the western side of Penyghent, a popular starting point for climbing Yorkshire's famous Three Peaks. The limestone country around Horton in Ribblesdale and the vast peaks is well-liked for caving and potholing. Deep beneath the nearby Ingleborough Hill the famous White Scar Caves house immense stalactites and stalagmites carved out over time by nature itself.
