Horton in Ribblesdale is a small village sat beside the Settle to Carlisle Railway at the western side of Penyghent, a popular starting point for climbing Yorkshire's famous Three Peaks. The spectacular scenery of the towering mountains provide a breathtaking backdrop for your Virgin hot air balloon flight.
Your basket may follow the saunter of the ‘The Pennine Way’ footpath which navigates through the Pennines, crossing a remarkable viaduct at nearby Ribbleshead, the centre of the Three Peaks. Further down the dale you may drift above Langcliffe village or the market town of Settle, which is overlooked by the enormous limestone crag of Castleberg.
The limestone country around Horton in Ribblesdale and the vast peaks is well-liked for caving and potholing. Deep beneath the nearby Ingleborough Hill the famous White Scar Caves house immense stalactites and stalagmites carved out over time by nature itself.
Whichever way the wind takes you, the vast countyside of the Yorkshire Dales National Park is a magnificent picture from a bird’s eye view and will guarantee an experience of a lifetime.
