To the south east of Kendal lies the Kirkby Lonsdale Virgin Balloon Flights launch sites. This site offers a fabulous flight option for all passengers.
Our launch site at Kirkby Lonsdale sits at the most northern tip of Bowland Forest which borders the spectacular Yorkshire Dales National Park.
South-west of our launch site are two Lancashire coastal 'gems' in the form of the towns of Lancaster and Morecambe, each with their contrasting charms and personalities.
Historic Lancaster, straddling the River Lune, is dominated by its magnificent medieval castle. Away from the castle, narrow Georgian streets, lined with fine restaurants and shops, lead down to St George's Quay, which, in Georgian times was a bustling sea-port, handling rum, sugar and spices brought from the West Indies.
And so to Morecambe, famous for its fabulous sunsets and stunning views across the bay, to the southern tip of the Lake District. Here you will find all the attractions of a traditional seaside town, with five miles of promenade, ideal for a walk along the seafront, where you will find the statue of Eric Morecambe, his familiar pose still 'bringing sunshine'.
The sky's the limit when flying in this area of outstanding natural beauty. Nowhere, are such contrasting landscapes so seamlessly entwined.directionsKirkby Lonsdale near Whoop Hall launch site:- The Whoop Hall Burrow with Burrow Kirkby Lonsdale Lancashire LA6 2GY From the M6 take junction 36 and then take the A65 exit towards Kirkby Lonsdale.
