Often termed the Ancient Capital of Scotland, Perth is steeped in history. A Royal Burgh for some 700 years there are many stories that have arisen out of this corner of Scotland over the years.
In 1396 the Battle of the Clans took place on the North Inch of Perth. The Chattan and Mackay clans each fought with 30 men, after the battle all the Mackays were dead, except one who swam to safety across the Tay. Legend has it that the Chattans were a man short and so a local saddler filled in the sought after place! Luckily he wasn’t one of the 10 Chattans that died that day.
In the modern Perth, the visiting gladiators have been replaced with a bustling tourist industry. The castles surrounding Perth are largely still there, but have been accompanied by shops, theatres and galleries making Perth an attractive city for any visitor.directionsPerth City Centre launch site:- The post code for the meeting point for this launch site is PH1 5HS.
