A hot air balloon ride over Whitchurch provides the perfect chance to enjoy beautiful rolling countryside from the majesty of a balloon basket.
Lying in north Shropshire, Whitchurch is a busy market town only a short hop from Shrewsbury, the Cheshire border and magnificent north Wales. Known as ‘the home of the tower clocks’ thanks to local company JB Joyce & Co. who claim to be the oldest clock manufacturer in the world, the town was built by the Romans in 70AD and, although there’s little remaining from those times, there’s plenty of Medieval, Georgian and Victorian architecture to spot from a balloon basket.
Depending on the will of the wind you might find yourself drifting peacefully over the Brown Moss Countryside Site a Local Nature Reserve and area of pools, mosses and peat bogs created over 10,000 years ago in the last ice age. Now a haven for wildlife and an interesting place to view from the vantage point of a a hot air balloon. Whitchurch is the oldest continually inhabited town in Shropshire and is believed to be the original home of Cheshire Cheese.
