Join us for a balloon flight over Worcester to enjoy fantastic views across the skyline of this historic city – famous for far more than just its distinctive sauce.
Lifting off in your hot air balloon from the picturesque tree-lined Worcester Racecourse, the River Severn winds away from you in both directions. To the north you will see the imposing twelfth century cathedral, home to the tomb of King John. Look out for the black and white Tudor houses on New Street and Friar Street as you drift over.
Flying high, you’ll notice three main parks in Worcester including Cripplegate Park by Worcester County Cricket Ground, Gheluvelt Park and finally Fort Royal Park, where battles took place during the English Civil War. To the west and south of the City, near Powick, is the site of the Battle of Worcester. It was here in 1651 that Charles II was defeated in his effort to regain the throne before fleeing to France.
As you leave the city on your hot air balloon ride over Worcestershire you can enjoy the beautiful patchwork landscape of this rural county, peppered with farms, villages and country estates. You can enjoy far-reaching views to the striking eight mile ridge of the Malvern Hills to the south west and the smooth rolling Cotswold Hills to the south and east during your airborne adventure.
To the north lies Droitwich Spa which became a famous spa town in the mid 19th century due to the salty brine water springs which people believed to hold medicinal properties when bathed in. The spa’s have long since closed but Droitwich, which forms the junction of two canals, is an interesting place to see from the basket should the wind guide you that way.
