Thursday 11th August – Sunday 14th August 2016

The countdown is on for this year’s Bristol Balloon Fiesta, have you booked your fiesta flight yet? Time is running out to book your place and experience the skies at the UK's largest hot-air balloon festival.

Now in its 38th year, Bristol’s hot air balloon festival is held every August at Ashton Court. Attracting visitors far and wide, the fiesta drums up tons of excitement in the city and nearby South West areas like Bath and Wiltshire, Taunton, Honiton and Shaftsbury.

Let’s face it, it’s not every day you see hundreds of balloons in the sky at the same time! A record-breaking 150 hot air balloons are expected to launch this year for the spectacular mass accents.

Last year saw over 500,000 spectators across the four-day event. There was also a Fiesta First – with all six scheduled flights going ahead thanks to the glorious August summer sun.

What’s on at The 2016 Bristol Balloon Fiesta?

5 Reasons why Bristol’s hot air balloon festival is the place to be this August…

There’ll be lots of surprises at this year’s event and most plans have been kept closely under wraps. Sneak peeks include the magnificent moon balloon made by hot air balloon creator Cameron Balloons.

  1. You Can Moon Bathe!

The new moon will be tethered throughout the event and even illuminated at the incredible nightglow and firework displays held on Thursday and Saturday evenings.

  1. Take to the Slide as Well as the Skies!

The Cancer Research Slide Rider will also be making a daily appearance, so you can make a splash and prepare for the slide as well as the ride of your life!

  1. Fun for the Whole Family!

From aerial displays to the funfair and plenty of stalls, there’s fun for the whole family across all four days.

  1. Awe-Inspiring Night Glow:

On the Thursday and Saturday evenings, you can end the day on a high with the unique nightglow. Many smaller balloons take centre stage to quite literally glow beneath the stars with the fiesta’s spectacular firework display as the backdrop.

  1. Fly in a Hot Air Balloon:

Last, but most certainly not least, the main reason you should of course head over to Bristol this August is to fly in a hot air balloon.

Floating across this wonderful city with hundreds of balloons drifting alongside you is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
