Today we're shining the spotlight on our Wales hot air balloon rides. We may only have two launch sites in Wales, but they both pack a punch when it comes to the stunning scenery they can offer.

Raglan

Find the beautiful Vale Of Usk at your feet when you go up, up, and away on our South Wales hot air balloon rides.

You’ll be launching from the pretty village of Raglan, midway between Monmouth and Abergavenny. The perfect spot for spectacular scenery stretching out in every direction.

Keep an eye out for the magnificent Raglan Castle just to the east of our balloon launch site, or the unusual Hen Gwrt moated site to the north.

To the North West lie both the dramatic Black Mountains and the Brecon Beacons National Park, now the world’s 5th International Dark Sky Reserve.

The right wind could even take your hot air balloon towards Newport or Cardiff to the south west.

A South Wales hot air balloon ride offers stunning Welsh landscapes whichever way the wind takes you.

Nearby Monmouth includes the spectacular Clearwell Caves and Wye Valley Butterfly Zoo for those looking to make a full day out of their South Wales hot air balloon ride.

Just a 45-minute drive away is Cardiff itself, with its wealth of museums, stunning architecture, and the Principality Stadium, home of the Welsh rugby union.

The pilot for our Raglan, Wales hot air balloon rides is Mark Simmons, known to most as ‘Nobby’.

Wrexham

You couldn’t ask for a better hot air balloon launch site than the multi-award winning Plassey Leisure Park, Wrexham, set in 247 acres of magnificent park and woodland.

A balloon flight over Wrexham will take you above the meandering lower Dee Valley Rivers with sights of the rolling hills of North Wales and the beautiful Cheshire plains of England.

Your hot air balloon may travel over the picturesque village of Overton situated on the edge of an escarpment which curves its way around the course of the River Dee; this historic village has been designated as a Conservation Area and is home to many 18th century buildings which are protected for their beauty and interest.

Westerly winds will take your hot air balloon flight over the glorious countryside of Bangor-On-Dee overlooking the Welsh hills.

Following your balloon ride above Wrexham, you could take advantage of the warm coffee shop and restaurant within the Plassey complex to reflect on your adventure. If you’re still feeling full of energy, you could enjoy a gentle stroll along the 2 miles of nature trail walks, taking in the beautiful Welsh sights.

The pilot for our Wrexham site is none other than the current World Hot Air Balloon Champion, Dom Bareford.
