Tissington Hot Air Balloon Ride

Fun & Interesting Facts

Over 360 million years ago, the Peak District was a coral reef beneath a shallow sea. The limestone hills and valleys of today were formed from the millions of plants, shells and sea creatures than existed way back then.

About

Take life higher on a stunning Derbyshire hot air balloon ride and experience an airborne adventure you will never forget.

Go up, up and away on the flight of a lifetime when you hop on board our iconic big red balloon in the pretty village of Tissington.

Enjoy a beautiful bird’s eye view of the glorious Peak District, with the beautiful Dovedale National Nature Reserve to the east and the scenic Carsington Water to the west.

You might also spot a few dramatic country houses dotted around the area, including Chatsworth House, Kedleston Hall and Haddon Hall.

A flight with Virgin Balloon Flights over this breath-taking landscape will be a Derbyshire hot air balloon experience you will talk about for years to come.

Whichever way the wind takes you, you will find gorgeous vistas of hills, vales and countryside stretching out in every direction.

Directions

From Ashbourne: Take the A515 North for Buxton for 4.5 miles, passing the Bluebell Inn on your left before taking the next right turn at Tissington Gates crossroads. Go over the cattle grid, down the tree-lined avenue and across another cattle grid into the village, bearing left at the grass triangle. Park on the right hand side of the road in front of Tissington Hall.

From Buxton: Take the A515 South for Ashbourne for 17 miles before turning left at Tissington Gates cross roads. Go over the cattle grid, down the tree-lined avenue and across another cattle grid into the village, bearing left at the grass triangle. Park on the right hand side of the road in front of Tissington Hall.

Once you have parked up, make your way on foot to the bottom of the village, passing the tea rooms on your right. At the grass triangle, bear right out of the village, crossing the cattle grid and heading down the tree-lined avenue, where you will see our balloon on the right hand side (approximately a 10-15 minute walk).

Note: The ‘Limited Parking’ signs do not apply to Virgin Balloon Flights passengers while on your flight. There is NO parking in the parkland for balloon flight passengers and all vehicles must be parked in the area designated above.
