Love is well and truly in the air this summer as a romantic childhood dream come true for one of our passengers.

Dessy Aryanti had no idea when she arrived for her hot air balloon flight with boyfriend Kianoush Imani and his family that just an hour later, she would be coming back down to earth as his fiancée.

Kianoush popped the question 4,000ft above Bath, fulfilling a dream Dessy has had since childhood that the future love of her life would propose in a hot air balloon.

Dreams Do Come True

Kianoush said he had no idea his hot air balloon proposal plans were exactly how Dessy had always hoped she would be asked for her hand in marriage.

“It was a complete surprise for Dessy,” he said. “I’ve always wanted to propose to Dessy somewhere up in the air.“Neither of us had ever been on a hot air balloon flight before so I thought it would be the perfect way to pop the question to her.

“Little did I know that it had always been her childhood dream to be proposed to on a hot air balloon, overlooking beautiful scenery and I managed to make it come true.”

A Family Celebration

Kianoush planned his sky-high proposal down to the last detail months in advance, even bringing his family along for the occasion.

“I looked for a safe and reliable balloon company in Bath and chose Virgin Balloon Flights because I had heard good reviews.

“Eight of us went on the flight in total but only my mum and two brothers knew about my plans to propose.

“I lived in Bath for three years during my university studies and knew it had great views.

“We all had a great and memorable experience. Seeing their surprised faces was priceless.

“The flight was very smooth and the champagne toast a nice touch. It was a wonderful experience for us.”

Made For Each Other

Dessy and Kianoush first met in July 2013, when they both worked for the Royal Bank of Scotland and attended a work dinner party in Singapore.

Even at that first meeting, Kianoush said he knew Dessy was special.

“She looked beautiful that night so I decided to approach her. After speaking to her, I found her very intriguing and I just had to get to know her better.”

Plans for their wedding are already well underway, with the venue already booked for October in Dessy’s hometown of Jakarta, Indonesia.

“I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with her and start raising a family together.”

Worth It

Kianoush also said he would definitely recommend his experience with Virgin Balloon Flights to others.

“The flexibility of the ticket on date and location made the decision to choose them easier.

“The view was amazing from 4,000 feet in the air. The pilot was friendly and knowledgeable and even one of my aunties who is scared of heights had a good time.”
