Canterbury Hot Air Balloon Ride

Fun & Interesting Facts

Despite writing one of the most famous historic literary works ever with The Canterbury Tales, there is no evidence that Geoffrey Chaucer ever actually visited Canterbury.

About

See this stunning cathedral city from on high as you take to the skies for a spectacular Canterbury hot air balloon ride.

Go up, up and away on the experience of a lifetime as you float majestically across this glorious part of Kent.

Fly wherever the wind takes you on an unsurpassed airborne adventure unlike any other.

Steeped in history and encased in Roman city walls, is no surprise that parts of Canterbury are designation UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

See how many of the stunning Roman ruins you can spot from the basket of our iconic big red balloon. Can you spot the city walls and gates, Kings School, St Augustine’s Abby or Canterbury Castle?

Keep an eye out for Blean Woods National Nature Reserve or Stodmarsh National Nature Reserve.

Whichever way the wind takes you, a Canterbury hot air balloon ride is a flying experience you will be taking about for years to come.

Directions

From the A2 take the A2050 towards Canterbury. Go across the first roundabout onto Rheims Way and at the next roundabout (St Peters), turn left onto St Peters Pl (A290).
This road goes to the left and passes the “west gate”.
Immediately at the next roundabout, turn right onto North Lane and at the next roundabout, go straight across onto St Stephens Road.
Approximately a quarter of a mile on the right hand side, directly opposite St Stephens Close, is a small access road with a steel barrier.
The launch site, which is one of the fields belonging to St John’s C of E Primary School, is through this barrier and approximately 100 yards along on the right hand side.
Please note that this barrier will only be opened 30 minutes before the scheduled meeting time and is located to the west of the school, over a river.
*Please do not go to or park up at St John’s C of E Primary School itself.*
