It was a truly ‘epic’ birthday balloon ride when 12-year-old Leoni took to the skies in Berkshire.
Dad Alex had surprised her with two hot air balloon ride vouchers for her birthday and joined her for the flight a few weeks later.
They flew at the end of April on their first booking from our Victoria Park launch site in Newbury.
And Leoni said she couldn’t have had a better present for her last birthday before becoming a teenager.
“It’s the best experience I’ve had in my life so far, and I would recommend it to all teenagers,” she said.
“When we took off, it felt amazing. The views were fantastic, and the experience itself was epic.”

“It all came about because Leoni has a ‘Leg List,’ which is the name my partner Katie gave her instead of a bucket list, as it seemed nicer for young people to have a future list.
“It’s also helpful for me in coming up with things to do with them, like the birthday balloon flight!”
The weather dependency of hot air ballooning does mean it isn’t always possible to fly on your actual birthday – although quite a few passengers have been lucky enough to do so!
