Carlisle Hot Air Balloon Ride

Fun & Interesting Facts

The UK’s first ever pillar box was erected in Carlisle back in 1853, two years before London had its first post boxes. While the original is long gone, the original pillar box is commemorated with a replica in the city centre.

About

An unforgettable airborne adventure awaits when you take flight for a magnificent Cumbria hot air balloon ride.

Take life higher across some of the most beautiful landscapes in the north west of England when you hop on board our iconic big red balloon from Carlisle.

Sitting just 10 miles from the Scottish border, this historic city was historically home to those manning the forts of Hadrian’s wall.

Keep an eye out for the 900-year-old castle or the beautiful Upperby Park and Hammonds Pool.

To south lies the Lake District National Park while to the south-east, you could enjoy views of the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The right wind on a clear day may even bring the Kielder Forest Park or the Solway Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty into view.

A Cumbria hot air balloon ride from the 'border city' truly is a sky-high adventure you will be talking about for years to come.
