The stunning Lake District offers some of the UK’s most breathtaking scenery, with rolling green countryside, rugged mountains and fells and the world-famous glacial lakes themselves.
A north easterly wind could bring views of Lake Windermere, the largest and most famous of all the regions lakes, while a northerly wind would see you drift towards Whitbarrow National Nature Reserve or the pretty parish of Cartmell Fell. You could see the River Winster winding its way along to the east too.
You will meet our team at the The Derby Arms at Witherslack, near Grange Over Sands. From there, you will travel in our Virgin Balloon Flights Land Rovers to one of our beautiful nearby launch fields close to Lake Windermere.
The Derby Arms is a lovely country pub on the north eastern side of Morcambe Bay, which offers great food and a fiendly, cosy atmosphere. It is an ideal gateway to the Lake District, with plenty of beautiful countryside walks in the immediate area.
From the M6, exit at Junction 36 and take the A590 signposted towards Barrow. After three miles, bear left and take the first exit at the roundabout, continuing on the A590 towards Barrow. After 4.5 miles, turn right signposted for Witherslack and Bowland Bridge.
The Derby Arms is 400m metres along this road on your left. Park in the car park to the rear of the pub or if the car park is full, you can park on the road itself.
Your balloon pilot and crew will meet you on the road beside The Derby Arms.
Toilet facilities are available at pub.
