For miles of unspoilt countryside, choose one of our fabulous Taunton hot air balloon rides.
Enjoy stunning Somerset from on high as you drift serenely through the sky in our beautiful big red balloon.
Taunton itself sits in the spectacular Vale of Taunton Deane, between the Quantock and Blackdown Hills. Admire its skyline dominated by several impressive churches, including that of St James, which towers over the Somerset County Cricket Club’s ground.
You may drift over beautiful Vivary Park, home of the annual Taunton Flower Show, and Taunton Castle, which dates back as far as the Anglo Saxon times of 710 and is now home to the Museum Of Somerset.
The Bridgewater and Taunton Canal is a fantastic sight to see, as colourful barges wend their way along the waterway. More unusually, military pill-boxes can be seen on the banks of the canal, as during World War Two there were plans for it to be a ‘Stop Line’ to halt invading enemies.
Whichever way the wind takes you, on our Taunton hot air balloon rides you’ll find some of the most quintessentially English countryside passing below the basket.
With the right wind, the balloon could travel far enough to offer sights such as Wellington to the west and the 175ft column built to honour the Iron Duke, Arthur Wellesley – the Duke of Wellington himself.
Our pilot Steve Vining is a West Country local with a wealth of knowledge about the area.
There’s also plenty to do in and around Taunton itself and wider Somerset if you did want to make a day of it before or after your balloon flight.
If you love your cricket, then the Somerset Cricket Museum is well worth a visit, right in the heart of Taunton.
Just a short drive away is the beautiful Fyne Court, a hidden gem nestled within the Quantock Hills managed by the National Trust.
And the Quantock Hills themselves offer some stunning walks and cycling routes. It’s no wonder the stunning landscape is a designated Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
So why not experience the fabulous county of Somerset from a whole new perspective with our spectacular Taunton hot air balloon rides.
In addition to Taunton, our South West balloon flight vouchers can be used for any of our 14 launch sites in the region.
From the M5 exit at Junction 24 and follow the signs for A38 South towards North Petherton and Taunton. Stay on this road for approximately 5 miles, passing through North Petherton, then take the left turn onto the A358 signposted for Minehead. Pass Monkton Elm Garden Centre on the left hand side and take the next right turn into Blundells Lane. Then turn immediately left into the Car Boot Sale site.
There is a small gravel parking area just in front of the gates to the field itself – please park up here and our balloon crew will meet you.
