Telford Hot Air Balloon Ride

Fun & Interesting Facts

The world-famous Ironbridge was the first structure in the world made from cast iron, built in 1779. Almost dismantled and ‘sold for scrap’ in the 1960s, it is now under the care of English Heritage and was one of the first places in the UK to be listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1986.

Until 1950, everybody had to pay a toll to cross the bridge – even the Royal Family.

About

Take to the skies for the airborne adventure of a lifetime on our wonderful Telford hot air balloon rides.

See stunning Shropshire from the skies on a truly unforgettable flying experience, which you will talk about for years to come.

Home of the annual Telford Balloon Fiesta each May, you can go up, up and away from our town launch site in our beautiful big red balloon anytime during our flying season.

Launching high above the dramatic Ironbridge Gorge – the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution - you may well see the famous Ironbridge itself as your hot air balloon ride adventure unfolds.

Look out for the winding River Severn and even the old furnaces used to cast iron for the bridge in the 18th century.

The majestic Wrekin – the largest hill for miles – is almost always in view and is surrounded by miles of beautiful countryside stretching in every direction.

No other experience compares to the unique mix of exhilaration and relaxation that our Telford hot air balloon flight brings.

Directions

Leave the M54 at Junction 4 and take the second exit signposted A442. At the second roundabout go left onto the A442 signposted Bridgnorth. Take the second slip road from this road, which is a continuation of the A442, signposted Madeley, Ironbridge Gorge.
Filter into the right hand lane, remaining on the A442. (Caution: the left lane goes to Madeley and Shifnal.)
At the first roundabout turn right, following the brown tourist sign for Telford Golf Club. Pass the Murco garage on the right hand side and turn left at the first roundabout towards Sutton Hill. Proceed along this road, take the third road on the left, Great Hay Drive.
The hotel is located at the end of this road.
It is important that you do not drive down the narrow tarmac road leading down to the launch site. Please park in the main car park, which is on the left hand side before the hotel entrance. Your crew will be met you to check you in there at the time given to you on the flight line.
