The beautiful Peak District awaits you on one of our Derbyshire hot air balloon rides. The National Park with its rolling hills and steep limestone valleys, attracts thousands of visitors each year, why not take to the skies and experience it from a birds eye view?

We have 4 launch sites for you to choose from, so whichever way the wind takes you, you’ll be in for a treat.

Bakewell

Our Bakewell hot air balloon rides launch from the Bakewell Showground, just 30 miles from Derby. The largest town in the park and famous for its Bakewell pudding, this quaint market town is popular with visitors and is the perfect place to start your Derbyshire ballooning adventure.

With the right wind direction, you could be treated to glorious views as far as the historic towns of Matlock, Chesterfield and Buxton.

One of the gems in the crown of the Peak District has to be Chatsworth House. Home to the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire, this gorgeous stately home will be a treat for the eyes as you float across the skies. Marvel at the 105 acre garden with its maze, Cottage garden and Canal Pond.

Should you have the time to visit the house, you can explore the 30+ rooms containing works of art spanning 4000 years, from ancient Roman and Egyptian sculpture to works by Lucian Freud.

Hop on board our Bakewell hot air balloon ride for an unforgettable experience.

Buxton

West of Bakewell sits the spa town of Buxton. At about 1000 feet above sea level, it is England’s highest market town.

It was first settled by the Romans in around 70AD and they made the most of its natural geothermal spring. Today, Buxton is famous for its bottled water which is shipped nationwide.

Our Buxton hot air balloon rides launch from just south of the town in Glutton Bridge. This secluded, private venue is set amongst some of the most stunning scenery in the entire Peak District.

Tissington

Further south from Bakewell and Buxton lies our Tissington launch site. Situated just 4.5 miles north of Ashbourne, Tissington is a picturesque village with a lovely vintage feel, from Herbert’s Fine English Tea Rooms and Edward and Vintage 1930s sweet emporium to the famous Tissington Hall.

Once you are in the air, you could look out for a host of other beautiful country homes, such as Chatsworth House, Kedleston Hall and Haddon Hall or simply just enjoy nature at its best with the beautiful Derbyshire countryside.

Piloting our Derbyshire hot air balloon rides is Chris Sanger-Davies. Having been a stand in pilot for us for many years, he will now be our pilot covering Bakewell, Buxton & Tissington. Chris and his crew look forward to seeing you in the skies soon!

Tibshelf

A new launch site for our 2019 flying season is the Derbyshire village of Tibshelf near Mansfield.

Located on the edge of the Peak District, it offers another perfect opportunity for glorious views of this National Park.

Keep an eye out for Hardwick Hall should the wind take you north. This beautiful Elizabethan country house and its historic parkland are managed by the National Trust and is sure to be a highlight should you glimpse it from the skies.

Our pilot Tom Hook who is joining us this 2019 flying season will be flying you from Tibshelf.
