Nantwich Hot Air Balloon Ride

Fun & Interesting Facts

Half the population was made homeless by the Great Fire Of Nantwich, started accidentally by a brewer in December 1583. The fire burned for 20 days and destroyed 150 houses, inns and other buildings. Queen Elizabeth I was so affected by the event that she ordered a nationwide collection of funds to rebuild Nantwich and herself donated £1,000 – not far off half a million pounds in today’s money.

Take to the skies for an unforgettable Cheshire hot air balloon ride and marvel at this beautiful county from on high.

Experience the airborne adventure of a lifetime as you go up, up and away from Nantwich Showground, with stunning views whichever direction the wind takes you.

Surrounded by glorious countryside, enjoy breath-taking vistas stretching out to the horizon as you drift majestically through the air in our iconic big red balloon.

Look out for the 400-year-old Jacobean mansion that is Dorfold Hall, surrounded by stunning gardens and beautiful lake. See if you can spot the 1,000-year-old Spanish chestnut tree near the old stable yard and the only remaining legacy of the original ancient Delamere Forest.

To the north lies Hack Green Secret Nuclear Bunker, one of the UK’s most secret former defence sites and which played a central role in the country’s defence for almost 60 years.

Make memories to last forever when you hop on board a magnificent Cheshire hot air balloon ride with Virgin Balloon Flights.

From the A51 Nantwich bypass, exit onto the B5341 on the North West side of Nantwich, signposted Nantwich, Acton and with brown tourist signs for Nantwich Marina. After one mile, pass the entrance for Dorfold Hall then take the third gate on the right into the showground.

If the gate is open, drive through and please leave your vehicle parked close to the entrance, where you will be met by your flight crew. If the gate is closed, please pull up and wait for your flight crew, who will be with you very shortly.

Note: If you pass under the Shropshire Union Canal, you have driven too far and will need to turn around and take the first left once you pass back under.
