Raglan Hot Air Balloon Ride

Fun & Interesting Facts

Raglan Castle is one of the last ‘true castles’ built in Wales and is unlike any other. It was built to be attractive rather than for true battle, with a polygonal, six-sided gatehouse and towers rather than the usual round or square.

About

Find the beautiful Vale Of Usk at your feet when you go up, up and away on our South Wales hot air balloon ride.

Launching from the pretty village of Raglan, near Cardiff, enjoy spectacular scenery stretching out in every direction.

The experience of a lifetime awaits when you hop on board our big red balloon for an airborne adventure you will never forget.

Keep an eye out for the magnificent Raglan Castle just to the east of our balloon launch site, or the unusual Hen Gwrt moated site to the north.

To the north west lie both the dramatic Black Mountains and the Brecon Beacons National Park, now the world’s 5th International Dark Sky Reserve.

The right wind could even take your hot air balloon towards Newport or Cardiff to the south west.

A South Wales hot air balloon ride offers stunning Welsh landscapes whichever way the wind takes you.

Directions

The post code for the meeting point for this launch site is NP7 9BA.

Exit Junction 24 on the M4 for the A449 towards Monmouth, then take the A40 towards Abergavenny. Turn right at the first roundabout (Raglan) towards Clytha Park. Follow this road for 4 miles, back under the dual carriageway, past the Raglan Garden Centre and the Clytha Arms Pub.

Just around the corner from the entrance to Clytha Park you will pass a big sign on the left for Llansantffraed Court Hotel. The entrance to the balloon field is on the junction of the next turning left, opposite Aberffrwd House.

Look out for the Virgin Balloon Flights sign on the gate into the field and the car park is sign-posted opposite this gate. If you are the first to arrive please open the gate to the car park and park inside on the left.
