Which To Choose? A Warwickshire Hot Air Balloon Ride Or A Gloucestershire Hot Air Balloon Ride?

Reading Time - 2 minutes

Location, location, location – should you choose a wonderful Warwickshire hot air balloon ride or a gorgeous Gloucestershire hot air balloon ride?

With our iconic big red balloons launching from beautiful historic towns such as Warwick, Stratford-Upon-Avon, and Cheltenham, you’re almost spoilt for choice.

Our flights are scheduled twice a day, every day across the country during the flying season, meaning Virgin Balloon Flights has more availability than any other operator.

With 100-odd launch sites across the UK, this week we’re putting the spotlight on our balloon rides in Warwickshire and Gloucestershire.

From Shakespeare Country down to the Cotswold Hills, our ‘heart of England’ launch sites are some of our favourites.

Hot Air Balloon Rides In Warwickshire

The airborne adventure of a lifetime really does await you on a balloon flight over Warwickshire.

A balloon ride from Stratford-Upon-Avon could bring in sights like Shakespeare’s Birthplace or the winding River Avon.

If you choose to fly from Warwick, the dramatic Warwick Castle will certainly come into view as you launch, while you may also spot the glorious Malvern Hills or the famous ‘stairway to heaven’ that is Hatton Locks.

Virgin Balloon Flights has more balloon ride locations in Warwickshire than any other operator.

Choose to fly from any of these launch sites:

  • Coombe Country Park for a hot air balloon flight near Coventry
  • Stratford-Upon-Avon balloon flight from the racecourse
  • Warwick balloon ride, launching from St Nicholas Park right next to Warwick Castle
  • Rugby for a balloon flight right on the edge of the beautiful Draycote Water
  • Shipston-On-Stour for a hot air balloon ride on the edge of the Cotswolds

Hot Air Balloon Rides in Gloucestershire

From the Forest Of Dean to landmarks such as Sudeley Castle and the mighty River Severn, a Gloucestershire balloon ride offers truly spectacular views wherever you fly from.

With the right wind, a Cheltenham hot air balloon flight puts the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty at your feet.

Or see if you can spot Chedworth Roman Villa if your balloon ride takes you north from Cirencester.

As with Warwickshire, we have more Gloucestershire hot air balloon ride locations than anyone else.

Book a flight from any of these launch sites:

  • Cheltenham hot air balloon ride from the racecourse
  • Tewkesbury hot air balloon ride in the River Avon Valley
  • Cirencester hot air balloon ride, in the South Cotswolds

And right on the border with Worcestershire, our beautiful big red balloons also fly from the pretty North Cotswolds town of Evesham.

Anything Else I Should Consider When Choosing Where To Fly?

Yes! Keep in mind that hot air ballooning is fully weather dependent, so flights can be cancelled at short notice if conditions are not safe for flight.

For a morning flight, we let you know at 11 pm the night before if it looks good to go ahead, while for evening flights, a decision is made at either 2 pm or midday that same afternoon, depending on the time of year.

So the last thing we want is for you to set off on a journey that could take hours, only to find out on route or when you arrive that the flight has been cancelled.

This is why unless you’re planning a trip away regardless of wherever you booked to fly from, we generally advise you choose a launch site within easy driving distance of home.
