Shrewsbury Hot Air Balloon Ride

Fun & Interesting Facts

Shrewsbury is home to the world’s first ‘skyscraper’, built back in 1797. While Dithering Flax Mill doesn’t stand much taller than many similar-sized mills of its era, it was the first ever multi-story iron-framed building built, making it the forerunner of every tower block and skyscraper the world over.

About

See stunning Shropshire from the skies on one of our unforgettable Shrewsbury hot air balloon experience.

With glorious countryside stretching out in all directions, a majestic flight in our iconic red Virgin balloon will leave you floating on air.

To the south lies the beautiful town of Shrewsbury itself – the birthplace of Charles Darwin.

It’s largely unspoilt medieval street plan, lined with 15th and 16th century timber-framed buildings and maze of ‘shuts’ and passageways between can be enjoyed in full from the sky.

Almost completely surrounded by the River Severn, keep an eye out for the imposing Shrewsbury Castle, first built almost 1,000 years ago to defend the only dry-land entry point to the town.

Beyond the county town, enjoy breath-taking views of rolling fields and glorious countryside.

On a very clear day with the right wind, you may even see as far as the hills of the Welsh border.

Whichever way the wind takes you on our Shrewsbury hot air balloon ride, you are guaranteed the flying experience of a lifetime.
