We might have mentioned this once or twice already but did you know Virgin Balloon Flights turns 21 this year?

When we sat down and tried to work it out, we estimate that we’ve taken almost ONE MILLION happy passengers up, up, and away since our company was founded in 1994.

Now that is something worth celebrating in itself.

Over the years, we have grown to become the biggest commercial hot air balloon rides company in the UK and remain the only one to have national coverage, with more than 100 lovely launch sites across the country.

But while we might have officially reached adulthood, by no means do we plan on leaving the fun of our youth behind!

So the first thing we did to mark this momentous milestone was ask an 18-year-old Shropshire student to design us a brand new pilot mascot.

And the lovely Joey McAleese did a fantastic job, as you can see for yourselves below!

Joey McAleese, who designed our fantastic new pilot mascot, is presented with a hot air balloon ride for two by our Head of Marketing Matt Jones as a thank you for all her hard work.

Our new pilot is 21, he’s rather handsome and he’s already proving to be a hit with customers and Virgin Balloon Flights staff alike.

However, there is just one problem – our new pilot still needs a name.

And that’s where you, our lovely followers, come in.

We’ve launched a competition on our Facebook page to name our new mascot, giving you the chance to win a bespoke Virgin Balloon Flights gift hamper containing, among other goodies, Prosecco, champagne flutes, chocolate truffles, our Voyager Pack complete with binoculars, cap and shoulder bag, the Virgin Balloon Flights Charlie bear cuddly toy and a hardback copy of Sir Richard Branson’s inspirational book ‘The Virgin Way’.

All you need to do is write your suggested name in the comments of our Facebook competition post to enter. (Please do not enter your suggestions in the comments section of this blog as they will not be counted!)

The winner will be chosen on Tuesday 1st September and announced on our Facebook page that same day.

So get your thinking caps on and good luck!
