This wonderful organisation shares our love of the great outdoors and is committed to helping young people from all walks of life realise their true potential.
Founded in 1941 by Kurt Hahn and Lawrence Holt in Aberdovey, Wales, the organisation was initially set up to provide young seamen with the necessary skills to survive the harsh conditions at sea.
Over the years The Outward Bound Trust has evolved and expanded, even going global, with Outward Bound Trusts existing in over 30 countries worldwide. Since 1941, it's estimated that over 1 million people have participated in an Outward Bound Trust course in the UK.
Through the work they do by organising inspiring outdoor adventures in collaboration with schools and youth groups, they give young people a chance to develop important life skills, thus increasing their confidence, resilience, and self-belief.
They have 6 residential centres across the UK, including Aberdovey in Snowdonia, Eskdale in the Lake District, and Loch Eil in the Highlands. Each location offers beautiful landscapes of hills, lakes, and lochs, all perfect for the adventures and challenges they offer.
